We are one of the largest charitable organizations in the world (ssvpusa.org). Our Society offers a variety of programs and services to the needy and suffering, including, but not limited to disaster relief, education and mentoring, food pantries, clothing, housing, and utility assistance.

The Society of St Vincent de Paul in the Peoria Diocese has eighteen conferences, which provide help to those in need.  Our core service is home visits.  A team of two Vincentians (St. Vincent de Paul Members) visit a household and listen to our neighbors share their needs.  They help them determine how they can surpass the immediate financial crisis and look forward to achieving their goals of improving their prospects for a future of self-sufficiency.  Our help can be food, assisting with bills, identifying resources and prayerfully being with them on their journey. Our conferences have built relationships in the community with non-profits and local agencies that they share with their neighbors.  Some of the issues may address underemployment, educational opportunities, supportive housing, food insecurity, child welfare, or financial literacy. We may do a budget analysis to help them identify where their hard-earned money is going and what they will need to earn in order to make ends meet in the future.  Some have found this to be a life changer, the first time they have ever drafted a budget.  Our ministry is more than a handout; we are a hand up to an opportunity for a more secure future.
